Destination Weddings

back

Planning a destination wedding can be so fun, or it can be a logistical nightmare. After all, traveling to another country with dozens of your closest friends and family is a lot to organize. Here at The Travel Mechanic, we specialize in making sure that you and your guests have the easiest travel experience possible. From helping plan room blocks and transportation to creating your wedding website, we’re here to take the pressure off so you can focus on enjoying yourself. If you’re planning a destination wedding and looking for some guidance, here are six tips to ensure that your guests have a smooth destination wedding travel experience.

1. Hire a Travel Agent

The first step to planning a stress-free destination wedding is hiring a wedding travel agent or destination wedding planner. Planning transportation and accommodations for dozens of people is very different than planning for one or two, so it’s important to hire an expert. As a wedding travel agent, we’ll help plan your guests’ travel, answer all their questions, and take the pressure off of you as a couple.

2. Opt For an All-Inclusive Resort

Here at The Travel Mechanic, you’ll see that all of our destination weddings are at all-inclusive resorts. This is because they make such a great experience for guests. Not only do your guests know exactly how much to budget, but they also offer incredible room block rates for groups. Plus, with all of your wedding events right on-site, guests never have to leave the resort.

3. Choose an Easily Accessible Wedding Destination

When choosing an all-inclusive resort for your destination wedding, one of the best things you can do is look at the nearby transportation options. Booking a resort near a large airport with direct flights to multiple areas in the US will make it much easier for your guests to attend. One of our favorite wedding destinations is Cancun for this exact reason – you can catch direct flights from almost anywhere!

4. Pre-Book Airport Transportation

Once your guests arrive at the airport, they’ll need transportation to the resort. While most airports offer cabs or buses, these will cost your guests more money and often require them to navigate a language barrier. To make it easier on your guests, we highly recommend booking private shuttles to pick up your guests at set times and bring them to the resort. Guests will only have to look for the correct sign and know that they will arrive safely at their destination. If you have a travel agent, they can help you with this as well!

5. Give Plenty of Notice

One of the most important steps you can take in planning a destination wedding is making sure to communicate with your guests as early as possible. Save The Dates should be sent out 18 months before the wedding day to allow your guests to budget for the event and start thinking about transportation options. Wedding invitations should be sent out nine months before your destination wedding, allowing guests to book their flights and rooms before they sell out.

6. Have a Streamlined Wedding Website

Destination weddings have lots of moving parts and information that needs to be shared. The best way to share this information is by creating a streamlined wedding website. Here at the Travel Mechanic, we create your wedding website with bookable links so your guests know exactly how to book their accommodations and travel. Plus, your wedding website is the first glimpse your guests get of your wedding, so it can get them excited for the big day!
