Here at The Travel Mechanic, we’re based in Raleigh, North Carolina, and so are many of our couples! While we love serving couples from all over, we have a special place in our hearts for our local friends. If you’re based in the Raleigh area and planning a destination wedding, we’ve rounded up the best locations with easy travel so your destination wedding trip can be as smooth as possible. 

Cancun, Mexico

Cancun is the all-inclusive resort capital of the world, and lucky for us, it’s easily accessible from Raleigh! Direct flights are currently available from Raleigh-Durham Airport on Thursdays and Saturdays via Delta, American Airlines, and Jet Blue and are about two and a half hours long. 

For the easiest travel itinerary, you can choose a resort in the Cancun area, but the Cancun Airport also serves several other parts of southeast Mexico. Other great resort towns accessible from this airport include Playa Mujeres, Rivera Maya, and Playa Del Carmen. While these can be up to an hour and a half drive from the airport, there are plenty of great transportation options. Whether you decide to use complimentary transportation through the resort or hire something private for your guests, we’ll handle organizing all ground transportation on your behalf.

Tulum, Mexico

Tulum recently started offering flights with major airlines, and direct flights are now available through Atlanta or Charlotte airports. Since these are both major hubs, this is a great option for couples with guests traveling from other areas of the country. Since these flights are still fairly new, they are currently very affordable and can make travel for a destination wedding in the area easier. 

In addition to Tulum resorts, the Tulum Airport can also provide great access to Playa Del Carmen or Puerto Aventuras. While these areas are also accessible via the Cancun Airport, if you choose a resort at either of these locations it’s a good idea to give your guests the choice of either airport. And once again, we’re happy to provide some options for ground transportation to make sure your guests have no trouble transferring from the airport to the resort.
