Have Your Wedding on a Cruise Ship 

If you love cruises, getting married on one is a no-brainer! Cruises are an incredible way to vacation, especially for groups. With options from 4 nights to 7+ night cruises, you can extend the party throughout the whole vacation.

Tying the Knot at Sea with Virgin Voyages 

Virgin Voyages has quickly become one of our favorite cruise lines here at The Travel Mechanic. Virgin’s all-inclusive, adults-only cruises are truly unique, with free wifi, top-notch fitness classes, and even an on-board tattoo parlor! This isn’t your grandma’s cruise. 

The cruise line departs from a variety of ports around the world, including Miami, San Juan, New York, and even several major cities throughout Europe. No matter where you want to have your wedding celebration, there’s a cruise for you. 

In addition to the standard perks of traveling with Virgin, couples are paired with a wedding specialist and onboard wedding coordinator. As your destination travel agent, we at The Travel Mechanic will help manage your group and make sure everyone has the perfect trip. 

Rather than the normal year-long planning that goes with a traditional wedding day, with Virgin Voyages, your cruise wedding planning will start around 150 days prior to the celebration. This will include payments, dining requests, flower selections, cake selections, and more. Your final wedding call will be 72 hours before departure, and then it’s time to relax and enjoy your trip! 

As with all wedding cruises, it’s important to note that weather plays a big role when you’re on the sea. Ceremony locations and times can be subject to change in case of bad weather, and ports of call may change for a variety of reasons. Additionally, all ceremonies onboard Virgin Voyages are symbolic. This means it will be your responsibility to take care of a legal marriage back home. 

Wedding Packages

Virgin Voyages offers three base packages from which to choose. These can then be customized with different decor styles and other add-ons. Plus, you can always extend the fun to dock days with excursion reservations for your whole group! 

1. You, Me and the Sea ($4,000+): An intimate elopement or vow renewal with no guests. Includes an onsite coordinator, dinner reservations, spa appointments, basic florals, a bottle of bubbly for toasting, and an intimate ceremony officiated by the captain or ship’s officer. 
2. Soulmates Set Sail ($5,000+): This tier offers ceremonies for up to four guests. Includes an onsite coordinator, dinner reservations, spa appointments, basic florals, a bottle of bubbly for toasting, and an intimate ceremony officiated by the captain or ship’s officer.
3. Wedding on the Waves ($8,000+): For weddings of up to 50 guests. Includes everything from the previous tiers, plus a cocktail party and an elevated dining experience for the ultimate unique ceremony at sea.

Each Virgin ship has three incredible options for your wedding ceremony space. The Perch is an upper-level open-air deck space perfect for large groups. The Scene is an indoor space great for intimate groups, with beautiful views of the ocean. And finally, The Wake is the onboard steakhouse with views from the rear of the ship. 

Virgin Voyages also offers three styles of decor for couples to choose from: Modern Boho, Luxe Chic, and Timeless Romantic Garden. Each of these comes with a corresponding bouquet(s) and boutonniere(s), as well as a floral archway for your ceremony. You also have three cake designs to choose from and various flavors and fillings to really make it your own!
